Shedding Shadows

Where Pain Becomes Power

"Shedding Shadows" is the heart-thumping, soul-cleansing centrepiece of LucyVivor’s emotionally raw EP. Featuring producer Jim White, the track doesn’t just navigate the turbulent waters of mental health, it crashes through them like an apocoayptic tidal wave, bold, unflinching, and beautifully raw.

Opening with breathless tension:

“surrounding shadows are taunting me / suffocating, so hard to breathe”

LucyVivor immediately pulls listeners into a space many know too well: the mental prison of anxiety, addiction, and self-doubt. But what follows isn’t despair. It’s defiance.

With layers of hypnotic synths, steady beats, and moments of explosive energy, Jim White builds a musical atmosphere that mirrors the emotional rollercoaster: fear, resistance, release, and eventually… transcendence.

Lyrically, LucyVivor takes the gloves off. She wrestles her demons in real time:

“try your best to smother me, the devil tried to mother me”

Delivering punchy, poetic bars that feel like diary entries set ablaze. As she raps and sings through moments of darkness, there’s a growing sense of empowerment and purpose. One line in particular is delivered clear as crystals the message:

“I draw my biggest weapon, chase them down with my ball pen”

A declaration that creativity, vulnerability, and truth are her strongest forms of resistance. And then theres the chorus, with its emotional refrain:

“can you come with me / ‘cause I will not be afraid of the dark”

Acting as both an invitation and a reminder: healing isn’t linear, and we’re stronger when we walk through the shadows together.

The final moments of the track, layered with the repeated plea

“Hold me closer, come and take my hand”,

are not about weakness, but about connection. It’s an acknowledgment that strength isn’t always loud—it’s sometimes just reaching out your hand and choosing to stay.

Imposter

A Raw Anthem of Self-Discovery and Defiance

LucyVivor’s latest release, Imposter, is a fiery, unapologetic anthem that digs deep into the heart of imposter syndrome, battling self-doubt, and the struggles that stop us from reaching our full potential. Working once again with long-time collaborator Jim White, who co-wrote, produced, mixed, and mastered the track, LucyVivor delivers a powerful message wrapped in raw emotion and fierce energy.

From the very first line, Imposter demands attention:

“Got a head full of rage, my heart is locked in a cage.”

The track sets the tone for a battle between the pressure of expectations and the desire for self-liberation. The chorus hits with defiance:

“I am who I wanna be, You don’t define me.”

It’s a declaration of freedom, a refusal to be boxed in by anyone or anything. The song explores the mental weight of imposter syndrome, something many can relate to. Lines like “Imposter syndrome, breaking my backbone, got the devil playing in my brain through my headphones” reflect the constant battle in our heads—the voice that tells us we're not good enough, the fear that we’ll never measure up. But LucyVivor doesn’t shy away from this dark place. Instead, she turns it into fuel, pushing through the noise with an unrelenting determination:

“I’ll take this battle to the grave.”

Imposter is more than just a song, it's a rallying cry for anyone who’s ever questioned their worth. It’s about breaking free from those mental cages and owning your power. As LucyVivor & Jim duet the line,

“You’re messing’ with mental health, YOU’RE NOT FOOLING ANYONE,”

Calling out the lies we tell ourselves and the stigma surrounding our struggles with self-doubt.

Jim White’s production elevates the track, blending intense beats with haunting melodies that perfectly match the emotional weight of the lyrics. The music pulls you in, echoing the internal conflict LucyVivor is battling. With every note, the tension builds, and by the end, you’re left with a sense of strength and freedom as LucyVivor triumphantly declares,

“I’ve never been so free.”

Imposter is a celebration of overcoming those mental hurdles and embracing who you truly are. It’s a reminder that you don’t need anyone else’s permission to be yourself. No more hiding, no more self-sabotage, just a bold and fearless step into your own power.

With this release, LucyVivor doesn’t just make a statement; she starts a movement. Imposter is for anyone who's ever felt less than or struggled to believe in themselves, this track is your anthem to stand tall, break through the doubt, and own who you are.

Manifesting

LucyVivor and Jim White bring forth a powerful, heart-tugging song that inspires reflection and empathy. Through vivid lyrics and evocative instrumentation, Manifesting immerses listeners in the wrenching reality of joint emotions of pain and suffering created by modern day wars and struggles with addictions.

This song invites those that listen to it to look beyond what is visible and understand the experiences of those whose families are directly impacted by both conflict and addiction.

LucyVivor describes the thought process to the creation of this song:

"So the two thoughts that were running through my mind at the time were the devastation of war and the struggles faced by those battling addiction. Though these may seem like distinct issues, they share a deep thread of pain and internal suffering. Wars and addiction carry an intense weight, casting shadows over those affected.

With this song, I wanted to extend a hand to those grappling with these struggles, offering a sense of strength and resilience. Additionally, I hoped to awaken a sense of awareness in listeners who may not feel these struggles directly, prompting them to become more conscious of the pain around us and recognise how small actions and compassion can drive significant positive change."

LucyVivor then explains some of the lyrics in depth from the song that are present in the second verse:

“shattered shards of glass from the liquor forming back into a mirror that I look into when I see myself grow.”

LucyVivor explains how this line was rooted to her own personal journey through addiction—specifically her experiences in overcoming alcohol and drug dependency. She states:

"I wanted to create a vivid, relatable image of the battle and transformation. In those particular lyrics the aim was to capture the idea of breaking away from addiction. The shards of a broken liquor bottle represent my choice to give up drinking. These fragments, once symbols of struggle, become a mirror in which I see my growth, highlighting how something broken can be reshaped into a source of strength and renewal.

Manifesting could not come at a better time, where people look for platforms to feel a sense of unity, belonging and determination to fight through the storms that life throws at us this 3rd track from the EP conveys those messages of hope, determination, and unity. By drawing on personal and universal struggles, it encourages us to embrace positive change and lift one another up rather than pulling each other down.

Sick Of It

Sick Of It has officially been let loose on humanity's ears. With its empowering and thought provoking lyrics creating ripples through the air, LucyVivor and Jim White once again team up together to produce and give life to this massive track which rawly expresses the agitation towards facing struggles from the cost of living both mentally and physically.

In a world where hate seems to be becoming more present everyday with the help of those in power trying to twist, divide and conquer, rather than unite and work together, this tracks apparent aim is to illuminate the shadows, chasing the smothering fogs of misery out with a positive strong light within the messages intwined with LucyVivor's lyrics.

This track urges resistance against discrimination and corruption. Because quite frankly a lot of us are becoming well...

'SICK OF IT'.

No Armour

No Armour blends a mixture of unusual sounds in this track that brings in the beautiful, dynamic, and energetic vocals that combine with the instrumental arrangements.

LucyVivor's words come across dark and moody while also empowering throughout this track.

Through explaining the struggles of moving forward in life surrounded by self doubt she smashes these walls down as she states through her lyrics and catchy hook lines that we don't need any armour on where strength lies within us all.

'I don't need any armour, I'm strong enough without armour on

I know who I am I know what Im worth

I know that I can, I know I deserve'

Followed by an impacting chorus by producer and co-writer Jim White who highlights within his words

'We all have to fall to find you have the strength to grow'

With No Armour being the first release from the EP followed by Sick Of It and then the most recent release of Manifesting, all 3 tracks making such an apparent impact in their entrances, the final 2 tracks sit in line patiently waiting for their chance to bounce into the social spotlight.
