Her new single, The Hollowing, descends into the quiet, terrifying transformation that happens when emotional survival begins to strip away our very sense of self. It explores the psychological breaking point where the mind, overwhelmed by pain, makes the executive decision to survive by shutting down completely. The switch flips. Emotion drains away. The world outside turns distant and muffled, and time itself feels entirely frozen.
The Hollowing takes the listener through a sonic and psychological wasteland. Drawing inspiration from the turbulent emotional landscapes of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD), the track builds an eerie, industrial atmosphere reminiscent of a desolate, mechanical nightmare. Shivering chains rattles, distant metallic clanks, and hollow silences echo the terrifying sensation of being trapped behind your own eyes, or in her case the one eye (as she is blind in the left eye) screaming at the top of your lungs while the outside world hears only stillness.
Yet, as the track progresses, the numbness begins to fracture. The song shifts into a gut wrenching showdown with buried ghosts. It is about the brutal, necessary labor of getting your hands dirty, digging through packed layers of unresolved grief, unaddressed trauma, and old wounds that have been hidden beneath the surface for far too long. There comes a moment when relying on outside validation or standard remedies falls short, and it falls entirely on you to face the dirt within.
What begins in cold emptiness erupts into a furious, defiant reclamation of power. As the industrial tension snaps into crushing, explosive riffs and unbridled vocal rage, The Hollowing transforms from a state of paralysis into an unstoppable battle/determination to keep going cry. The Hollowing arrives as the next vital chapter in Lucyvivor’s ambitious 13-track debut album. Created in close collaboration with producer Jim White over intensive studio sessions, the album functions as a chronological healing journey, mapping out the stages of trauma, survival, and rebirth across thirteen distinct sonic movements.
